Another aspect of Christmas is all the Christmas lights you see around towns. Well try thinking about it this way. Jesus Christ is known as the light of the world. When He was born a star was shown in the sky. A light. There are many things that relate to him that are lights. In the Book of Mormon found in Helaman chapter 14 Samuel the Lamanite says there will be one day as if there was no night. So as you go around looking at the lights on houses and trees try thinking of it as the light of Christ.
It being Thanksgiving I thought I would do something a little different. I want to say Happy Thanksgiving. It being Thanksgiving people always seem to remember what they are thankful for mostly on this day. As the days come after Thanksgiving try and remember what you are thankful for just as much as you do on this Holiday. Remember smile and be thankful it a wonderful time to.
Being a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day saints there are buildings we build called temples. There truly are the house of God. They are all over the world and they will continue to be built all over the world. Here is a video of why we as members of our faith build temples.
Don't let others tell you who you are. You will look at ads magazines and tv and say I wish I looked like that. Well you are you and that's all that matters. President Dieter F. Uchtdorf tells a story that really puts this into percepitve. Here it is
God does have his power here on the earth. That power is the Priesthood and it is held by worthy male members of his church. The priesthood can work many miracles and do many things if the person holding it has the faith and is worthy for example here is a talk given by Elder Holland of the Seventy...
So serving in New York this last 7 months I have come to realize that something happens here a lot. It rains. Being from where I am from I don't usually experience rain. The earth always looks so clean and new after it rains. This got me thinking about repentance. Sure you do things bad all the time, but through the love of our Savior He forgives us. We just have to repent. It is like this, the sins we commit make us really dirty and muddy and nasty. Then as we repent it rains and sometimes pours. We then become clean. Repentance is amazing and can help anyone. So if you ever feel like you can't be forgiven remember that you can and it might be hard but it is worth it.
Many people say and even I have said it. Why is this so hard? Well because we make it harder than it has to. I know with me that most of the things I have asked that I have made them harder than they have been. I remember when I would get on the roof and help my dad with our air conditioner and I didn't understand it he would tell me you are making this harder than it seems. As I learned to listen to him and figure it out I realized that it really wasn't that hard it was easy. Well that is how it is with the Savior. We go through hard times in our life and ask why is it so hard. The is a scripture in Matthew Chapter 11 the last 3 verses 28-30. This scripture has really stuck out to me lately and I know that if you take the time to read it it will help you when you are going through hard times. It says...
So as missionaries we get moved about every six weeks. Some don't, some will stay in one place for up to 9 months sometimes. That is somewhat of the life of a missionary. For some people change is not easy. That is how it was with me my first time I was in an area for about 4 months. I had met many people and made friends with them. I had planted my roots in that area. So when I got the call to go to another area I was pretty devastated. It was hard for me Like I said before change is not easy for some people and it wasn't with me. I did not know what I was going to do. It was really hard at first. I was not functioning to the best of my ability. I was still trying to figure out why I got moved. As time went on I did figure out why I was moved. As I turned to the Lord for help he made the change easier for me. Now that I have been moved again it was a whole lot easier. I was not in the area as long. I did not meet that many people who I was friends with. I did meet some and I made friends with them. I think as you go on and as people go on sometimes change will be made easier or again it will be hard all depending on how you are and what you do. So as you go through change for those that it is not easy for turn to the Lord and He will make it easier for you. For those who change is easy, help make it easier on those who it is hard for. Do what ever you can to help. Talking from experience it will make the change so much easier when it comes.
So the other day I cut my finger really bad. As I was going throughout the day I was getting kinda frustrated because the finger I cut was my pointer finger and I realized how important that finger could really be. It then got me thinking how can I relate this to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. This is what I came up with. There are many who walk away from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (I will mention it now as the church). They go through life feeling like something is missing. Maybe feeling like something is gone. As they go through life yeah its a happy life but there is always something gone. Maybe down the road they realize that what is gone is the church. They then could start trying to come back or just keep going through life without the church. Some do choose to come back and when they do they feel complete. What was gone is now healed. I know the finger thing is kinda gross to some people but it is amazing how one thing can make you think and try to relate it to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I hope that this helps.
13Behold, they will acrucify him; and after he is laid in a bsepulchre for the space of cthree days he shall drise from the dead, with healing in his wings; and all those who shall believe on his name shall be saved in the kingdom of God. Wherefore, my soul delighteth to prophesy concerning him, for I have eseen his day, and my heart doth magnify his holy name.
So I know what happened in Joplin Missouri was a while ago but someone helped me with this idea. There is many things to look for in all the destruction many look at the bad and few look at the good. Many ask this question why do bad things happen to good people? It is because everyone needs bad things to happen to them to make them humble again. Anyways, like I was saying there are many things to look for in destruction. Look for the good. Sure there were many people who died but there was also many who survived. That is always good. The people in Joplin became closer because of this. The city was united. So as you can tell the Lord was watching out for his fold. He protects the righteous. I don't know if those who died were all bad people sometimes good people have to die because they are needed somewhere else. The Lord loves everyone and as seen recent he protected those in Joplin Missouri so look for the good and the Lord always protects those of his fold. So stay happy when something bad happens there is always good in the end.

4What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine ain the wilderness, and go after that which is blost, until he find it?
Baptism is really important. It is one major thing that members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day saints do. Why is it important? Jesus Christ answered the question himself.
Why is this important? Well it is a very important step for many things and it also helps in many things. Say you screw up real bad. Now sure there's nothing you can do about it because you can't go back and undo it. So this is where repentance comes in. You admit that you did something wrong. So you are feeling bad about it right. Well through certain process in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day saints you will be able to repent of what you did. I am not going to go into major detail about them. Through this process you are able to feel better about yourself. You are also able to make amends with the Lord for what you did. Everything will be made better through repentance.
For some reason this topic has been on my mind for a while I don't know why. So I decided to start studying this for a little while. This is what I came up with. Immersion represents the death and burial of Christ. When we as members of this church talk about immersion it is usually about baptism. So as I was studying it a little bit I came upon this scripture
Oh, how praying rests the weary!
21And now as I said concerning faith—afaith is not to have a perfect knowledge of things; therefore if ye have faith ye bhope for things which are cnot seen, which are true.
12And it came to pass that he rent his coat; and he took a piece thereof, and wrote upon it—aIn memory of our God, our religion, and freedom, and our peace, our wives, and our children—and he fastened it upon the end of a pole.
